Sunset Beach Resort and Campground, Battle Lake, MN

Summer break is officially underway and we celebrated doing what we love most! This trip was extra special because we went with our neighbors who recently got a camper of their own! We went to one of their favorite sites—Sunset Beach Resort and Campground in Battle Lake, MN. It's about 3 hours NW of the Twin Cities area. We could quickly see why they love it! It’s quaint, quiet, seasonal spots available, right on the lake, decent playground, boat rentals and the owner is very kind and accommodating! Had we not been with our neighbors, we probably would have preferred more privacy and space in between sites, but if you’re planning to go with family or friends—the sites offered are very suitable! One of the amenities was the pontoon rental. We rented one for the day on Saturday and it was surprisingly affordable for such a long reservation! We took that puppy all around the lake. Our neighbors are avid fishers, so we got ourselves a license and some poles and got some lessons from them! After about 4 hours on the lake, we had tallied about 30 fish between the four of us that we caught and released! Pretty sure we’re going to add fishing to our activities of choice on our upcoming trips this summer! Very thankful for kind friends to help us out and teach us new things—something I (Laura) have been wanting to do forever! It was a perfect getaway to start the summer. Though I think since I finally let my shield down and “let loose”, those germs I’ve kept at bay for months finally got to me as I've come home with a nasty cold. At least I can spend the day in pajamas tomorrow if I want! Initiate summer mode! Hope everyone has some fun plans in store this season with their adventuring crew! We’d love to hear about them.
